Onboard credit

Does anyone have any experience with onboard credits? Is the money simply credited to your room when you first board, or is it added day by day? Can you apply the credit toward anything (i,.e., spa, drinks, e-mail fees, etc.)?

Another question on onboard credits: is it per cabin or per passenger? My husband and I are each receiving an onboard credit for an upcoming QM2 trip, and I'm wondering if it will be a combined total, or if we need to spend the money separately.

I hope to spend the trip in the spa. I think he has other ideas!

We have $300 onboard credit per passenger on a QM2 trip next year and we will have only one cabin account. I presume the credit can be spent on anything that's charged to the account.

You can spend your board credit however you like. But if you don´t spend it, they will not pay you cash. So enjoy the Spa, the Bars, the Shops, the Internet or what ever you like. If you register only one credit card for both passengers it will only be one account so it doesn´t matter how you spend the board credit, they will take it off from the total you need to pay.

Not sure if it is added on a daily basis or all at once, I do know

that it can be used for just about anything except the casino.

About the second day out you will receive a note in your cabin that an onboard credit has been placed on your account. Is this a travel agent credit or a shareholders credit?

it is a one time credit against your final bill USE IT OR LOSE IT !!!!!!!!!!

It depends on where the onboard credit came from.

If it was granted as part of a promotion with the cruise fare it will be added during the course of your cruise and can be added for excursions and can be usually used for everything except the casino. Usually, these types of credits can't be used for services (tips) and you do not receive any leftover balance at the end of the cruise. Always check with the customer service desk to make sure.

If it was a credit that was obtained by either a bon voyage gift or one that you or someone else paid for with cash or credit card, prior to your cruise than it can be used for anything other than the casino and anything left will be refunded to you at the end of the cruise. The casino is a separate entity and even though the money goes into your account it doesn't come out. Strange but true.
