we are booked on the Nov. 5th Transatlantic NYC to Southampton. We need to hire a car to get us back to Manchester, but according to all the websites none of the car rental companies are based at the docks. Does anyone know if the hire companies have either a comound at the port or alternitavely will deliver the vehicle?
We are looking at hiring a car rather than flying due to baggage restrictions on the airlines. Coming in from the States we will be well over the domestic allowance.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Lex,
Both Hertz and Avis have depots very near to waterfront (although a little way from where dock Cunard. From memory they are nearer P&O docks used by Oriana, Aurora etc. However, both companies will deliver to any location, so all you should need to advise is the fact that you want a car to collect adjacent to Cunard dock on whatever date. ask them to tell you where the collection point is in relation to disembarkation.
If you have probs, let me know. I'll make a call for you to clarify. I live in NW Uk but happy to phone Southampton and find out for you.
Thanks Anita, I'll call them. We live in the NW UK too.
Doh! The avatar address was a bit of a giveaway! I thought you were in the States!
Enjoy. And as a matter of interest have you seen the Cruisecritic dot com forum. Some helpful posts on all sorts of things on the Cunard 9and other) threads.
Best wishes, Anita
