Just returned from the QM2 New York/Southampton
and have a few of observations.
Eggs in Kings Court
Sunny side up
This all confuses my Ron ( I know he is a silly old fool but he is my Ron) to such a degree that he will only have scrambled when on the QM2 so as to avoid confusion.
Public Area Toilets
Nearly 50% were out of action on and off during the trip with no explanation from the Commodore as to why - who did thinkthat we needed to know on a daily basis how much water was under the ship - there was quiteclearly a lot waiting to be disposed of on it
Walking Around the Deck
As we had some sunny weather the deck chair hoggers were out in force
inconsiderately putting loungers across the path at the bow so us walkers had to find a route through - it was like an obstacle course -
In the Golden Lion the Pina Colada's were watery and tasteless who ever makes them needs to be re-trained.
In all bars on the ship we were told they had run out of Pimms
yet they were selling bottles in the shop - could somebody from the Bar staff not have popped along and bought a few bottles - come on Commodore get your companies A*** in gear.
Yes... of course there is no reason why you cannot ask why things are so...
But in the long run, one of the realities of ships is that you can't just call a plumber when toilets go down. You have plumbers onboard, but if you need parts you can't just get UPS to send them to your ship in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.
It is hard enough to maintain a ship without all of the logistic challenges of being out at sea. The more you know about them the more you accept this fact.
As for the eggs - My wife regularly orders "over medium" - I had never heard of it, but it makes sense if you think about it. They make great fresh eggs on ships, I would urged him to be more adventurous.
I am the editor, but I also speculate, ask questions and play devil's advocate. I reserve the right to change my mind.
