What is the best cruise ship for disable travel?

Howdy!

I'm thinking about taking a cruise for the first time. Both my sister and I have Limb Girdle MD and need the use of a batery powered scooter to get around. So we will need a cabin large enough to move around in. The scooters that we use are like 22in. wide, I think. As far as using the bathroom, we would need to transfer in order to use the toliet and the shower.

Does anyone have any suggestions for which cruise line I should consisder?

Joy, virtually all the newer ships for most lines (except Renaissance) offer handicapped cabins. They are generally larger and have accessible bathrooms. You may find though that the cruise ship company may require each of you to travel with a AB companion, so you may need to book two rooms and have roommates if you do not have partners. Book as far ahead as possible, as AB people have figured out that the accessible cabins are big too, and some lines do not restrict them to only disabled passengers.

We have had good success with Crystal (until recently...see my posts below), Princess, and Celebrity cruise lines, and some of the newer Royal Caribbean ships. I have heard complaints about Holland America recently.
