We are going on a cruise in June on the Voyager. I can get around a little put can not go far has any one rented a power chair that they bring to the cruise port in New York City and how did you get it. has any one been on the Voyager with a power chair or a scooter.
Try CareVacations.com or Scootaround.com.
I just got back from a cruise where I took my scooter, and rented a wheelchair from care vacations. Price was reasonable, wheelchair was in my cabin when we boarded, and we left it there when we disembarked. It was VERY convenient. I believe that both of those companies rent battery powered chairs, scooters, and manual chairs..
Yes, scootaround and care vacations (cruise ship assist) are both approved vendors for RCI. You have to go with an approved vendor or they are not allowed in the port area or onboard the ship. If I had to pick one over the other I would go with cruise ship assist (care vacations) as I've received more good reports about them. Also, they are in the business of dealing specifically with cruise ship passengers.
Access is excellent aboard all of the Voyager class ships. I've been on Adventure of the Seas and I just returned form the christening of the new Mariner of the Seas. Excellent pathway access, no coamings (lips) to outside decks, pool lifts, full 5 foot turn around in the bathrooms in the accessible cabins, nicely designed roll-in showers, automatic doors to outside decks, accessible public bathrooms and nice access to the public areas are common features on all voyager class ships. You can even play miniature golf if you want to as the golf course is wheelchair accessible (albeit it's a bit windy on that top deck, but still kind of fun).
It's a good choice for an accessible cruise.
