Default Cruise/Atlantis Tips

I typed this up for my Brother in law who left this morning. I thought it may help some of you!

When you get off the plane you will take a funky monorail to baggage claim. Your luggage will be there since you were smart and did not put your Disney Cruise tags on it yet. The Limo guy should be right there with a sign. (www.orlandoride.com, e-mail to Abe) Tell the Limo to stop at the first 7-11 like place. Get your 6 pack and a snack for Lexie and yu are off! No horrible shuttle for an our with a million screaming kids! Nice and comfortable ride for you! When you ge out of the limo, put way anything you don't want to carry around then put your disnet tags on the luggage and it will be whisked away. You will not see it again until about 11pm. Make sure you have your swimsuits and other things that you won' t want to wait 8 hours for! Contact solution, etc.!

On the Ship:
When you get on the ship - Go directly to Guest services and ask:
1) Do you have any cancellations?
2) Where and at what time can I make Palo reservations?
3) De-Activate Child's card so she can’t charge to the room!

Go make your reservation for Palo. This is the Adults only fancy restaurant where you have to dress up. Make the reservation in exchange for the night you are scheduled to eat at the “Buffet” restaurant. You DO NOT go to Palo to make the reservation, you go somewhere else. You will probably have to stand in line to get your reservation, so only one of you should go.

While one of you is in line for Palo reservations, the other should go to “Oceaneer’s club” and register Alex. Takes only a few minutes, and they will give you a beeper. Ask for their event schedule. Only take the beeper with you when Lexi is at the club.

Then go to the buffet and eat! And go EXPLORE THE SHIP! Don’t miss the Bon Voyage Party!!!

Do not even try to go to your room until later, the housekeeping people will get mad because rooms will not be ready until after Bon Voyage party. You can also go to the spa and make your massage reservations for Castaway Key. Aggy really enjoyed his! There is an arcade on the boat, I am sure you will find it!

After your first night Dinner, if you do not like the people you are sitting with, go complain to guest services immediately so you can get switched!

Atlantis – Nassau

Before you get off decide what you will do first at Nassau, shop or go to Atlantis. If you shop, get it done then go back to the boat and drop off your purchases before going to Atlantis. The ship won’t leave until late, but don’t miss your dinner time!

When you get off the ship 400 people will attack you and ask you if you need a ride. Just ignore them for now, unless you are going to first go to Atlantis. Right outside the dock area is the tiny cigar store.

Atlantis: make sure to wear your swimsuits under your clothes. Take the towels from your room and put in your tote bag with snorkels, sun block, etc. Take a million pictures here!

Take a cab (minivan-NOT A BOAT taxi - IT SUCKS!) It should cost $6 PER PERSON each WAY, to Atlantis. Walk around because this place is amazing. To get to the cool cove beach, walk through the casino. (there will not be any signs for the beach!) Stop and take your picture in the giant Serpent chair, so cool! Then continue through the lobby but stop and look down over the rail to see the cool fish tank with the Bull's head!! Continue following signs to the “Spa” finally when you reach the spa there will be a sign for beach! Pass the giant fountain with big fish statues and continue on down, over the bridge. Take a right and there is the awesome cove beach. Do not continue to the regular beach!

There is a bar right behind the cove beach, you will have to use cash or credit card at the bar, tell them you don’t want to charge it to your room! At the cove-hotel guests will rent floatation devices but when they are done they will usually just leave them, then you can get one! They charge $15 an hour to rent a stupid floaty so don’t even try! There is excellent snorkeling in the cove. If anyone tries to stop you, just smile and nod at them. Pretend you do not speak English and tell Lexi not to speak and ruin it! Try to sneak into the Mayan Temple Pool/Slide. There were too many of us, but since there are only 3 of you, you may get by unless they are really checking for wrist bands!

When you leave Atlantis, just go back where the cab dropped you off to get a new one back to the dock area. Stop and buy some beer, etc before you get on the boat. You can buy just 2 bottles of beer!

Back on the ship
Make sure to check the schedule for autograph times and places so Lexi can get her book done, you can also take pictures of her with all the characters who give her autographs.

Make sure to go to the picture area and buy the picture they took of you guys getting on the boat- that we forgot about! We were lucky enough to get the picture but we almost missed it! Check the schedule completely and immediately every time you get it so you don’t miss anything and can plan your days! We ate breakfast at Trident’s everyday instead of going to the buffet.

We did not tip the dinner captain, and tipped housekeeping only half of the suggested tip. We tipped our wait staff the recommended amount. Make sure to fill out the survey and make COMPLIMENTS for everyone who deserves it even the hair braiding ladies! No one working on the ship is from USA so they don’t have to honor US employment laws! They get bonuses from compliments.

Do not put your luggage out on the last night of the trip. Take it to breakfast with you and leave the ship. You will pass hundreds of others frantically searching for their luggage! As soon as you can, get a porter. They will sail you past customs then off to the tent to get your rental car. Tip Porter well, he has saved you at least a half hour!!

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a reason the cruise lines ask you to put your luggage outside the door on the last night. If everyone carried luggage off the ship it would be a nightmare, not to mention the abuse the ship would suffer from luggage being banged against walls etc.

Happy Sailing!

The luggage issue is not that bad. we found ours in less than 3 minutes upon arriving at the proper location (indicated by the tags you get in your room). The porters will even help you look if you want. That way you can relax and don't have to worry about lugging all your bags. Let them do it. Palo reservations are always in Studio Sea (Route 66 - Wonder) skip the lines at Guest Services.

Was the cabin steward bad? This is his only source of income. Our steward, Richy, was excellent. We gave him more than the recommended and deserved it?
