Re: Kids program I have heard RCI is better with kids than
Having utilized both, I will say that there are pros and cons to each of them. From a parent point of view, I liked Disney better. I thought the security was better as well as the registration process, and hours available. When I would pick my son up at 11pm-12am, most of the kids were asleep with a video running. What I thought was lacking in the program was more usage of the ship itself. They really limited themselves to the kids area. My son did this one first and really enjoyed himself.
I thought RCI was a more involved, physical program. They did parades and shows with the kids throughout the ship. They took them "backstage" in the theatre to learn about the shows. They had them still going at 1am when I picked him up, and he is 6! The downside to RCI, from a parent view, is the hours. They do not open the first day, and periodically close throughout the week depending on port days or sea days. I like to have it available at my convenience. I would not leave him in there all the time, but one example was when bingo started the same time the program closed. I had to sign him out so he could sit with me and be bored during bingo. I could have skipped it, but it is something I look forward to. Also, on RCI, you need to pay between the hours of 10pm-1am. Disney on the other hand is free. When the cruise was finished, he said he liked both, but he liked RCI more. But then again, he is a very active kid and RCI certainly has the facilities for active kids.
