It will just be my husband (56) and I (48). Have done a lot of reading (on this forum and elsewhere), and prob will go for the verandah stateroom (although navigator verandah looks like good alternative).
Just a few Qs.
(1) Can you bring wine aboard? (I think yes, and then there is a corking fee at dinner).
(2) At Palo, can you sit with just your spouse, or are other guests at the table too?
(3) How dressed up must you get for dinners? We are really not into that other than once in a while. Are dockers type chinos and a button down shirt acceptable? Sundress? Jackets required for men?
(4) We LOVE interacting with and photos with the DIsney characters- are they around much on he ship and CC? Which characters? (PLEASE say Chip and Dale are among them !!! My Favorites !!!)
(5) How expensive are the photo packages?
(6) On CC, is it large enough to walk around for a bit? How is the snorkling? Has anyone tried the kayak trip there? (Have heard great things about CC, and we are both very outdoors people, so we are looking forward to tis. Prob not so keen on Nassau.)
(7) Do they have tours of the working areas of the ship- such as bridge?
THANKS so much for any info. Will be counting the months off !!!

Hi Kathy,
well I have done 16 DCL cruises so far and have more booked so I can help withyour questions.
1. Yes people bring their own wine and there is a corking fee. I think it was $35.00. Pack it in your carry on, not your checked luggage at the port or it will break for sure. They are NOT gentle with luggage.
They do have lots of wine specials for dinner, entire wine packages too.
sorry I dont know prices.
2.Palos is small tables, so it can be just the 2 of you if you wish, request it when booking. They do have larger tables if you have friends along.
3.Dress is very casual. basic rule is no shorts or tank tops, about anything else goes. You will see some shorts even though they ask you not to wear them.
You will have a formal or semi formal night but most men just wear slacks , nice shirt and tie, most no jacket even. Ladies a nice dress or pant suit.
If you were on the Magic they would dress up more. The Wonder is more casual.
I dont know if they are still doing it but they were having the bufffet open from 6:30 to 8:30 accept for first and last night. It was not a buffet at night, it was sit down and casual for those who dont like to dress up and of course there is plenty of food around the pool areas if you dont want to dress up for dinner, room service too.
4.I love C & D too and YES they are there, several times!!
In your Navigator paper in your room they will have character meet and greet times listed, so you know when to look for them. Most are in the atrium, all 3 stories of it sometimes. Now to know the exact characters look at the small TV monitor by the back of the elevators in the atrium, it will tell you who and when for the meet.
also they are along the way to CC too. again check your navigator for times and places.
also on pirate night they will be in pirate attire and its a really cute picture.
5. I dont remember the prices but they have 3 or 4 different sets to choose from. starting around $80 and up I think.
But if you buy a large package and dont buy enough photos they will refund and give you the less expensive package or charge for individual photos, which ever costs you the least. Or if you buy too small and package you can upgrade at anytime. Just SAVE the receipt.
6. snorkeling is great. Lots of fish, many large ones. way out there is a sunken ship and a hidden statue of Mickey to find.
There are 2 long bike / walking paths on the island , both are around a mile long, plus the walk to get to them. Just walk towards the adult beach, there will be signs. One trail has an observation tower for a great view of the island. Be sure and look down around the base of the tower for some whimsical things to see. we always rent the bikes for this.
7. No live bridge tours anymore. when they expanded the spa and fitness center they covered the area where they use to have the tour, now they just show a movie on the jumbotron screen by the family pool. I think they still do the galley tour, but you must ask at Guest services desk for a ticket and reserve a time. They move you through really fast but not so fast you cant see it and enjoy the tour.
You can walk deck 4 all the way around the ship and at one end is the mechanical stuff for wenches and ropes for docking. Interesting to see.
Hope this helps some. if I can answer any other questions, just ask I am happy to help.
sorry about all the spelling errors but it is late and I am tired.
