hello Everyone, I an Grandma Carole and live in Port St. Lucie, Fl. we are taking our son, daughter in law and 6 yr. old grandaughter on the Disney DREAM April 17-21 and have 2 aft cabins to view Castaway Cay when we wake up on day 2.
OK, about dressing up on the ship. We first cruised disney on the Wonder in 2007. We did not do nor know of costumes. Thats not gonna happen this year.!!!
I have a complete pixie fairy costume for ther grandaughter complete with light up pixie shoes, tiara, pixie wings and magic wand.
For pirate night I got 2 stripped shirts for us gals with pirate skull caps and 2 "unique" pirate shirts for the guys and pirate costume for the grandaughter and earring for all of us. The suitcase #3 is full just of goodies. And I got all online at great prices for a hair over $100.
We are ready..........we will dress for the fun on this ship and my advice is........yes, plan to dress and join in the fun.
April is a wonderful time to cruise, I just did it for my 40th Birthday at the end of April on the Dream. Good for you guys for dressing up. Oh you'll get some cute Mickey icon pirate bandanas to add to your costume this year as well.
And just like your dressing yourselves up, don't forget to dress your stateroom door up too. You can even change them daily to fit the theme. I have done Thanksgiving, Christmas, Castaway Day, Birthday and Pirate night themes on mine. Have fun!!
My first Disney cruise was in October of 2010 (WOO DISNEY MAGIC!). Sadly, I was unaware of the dress ups. I was extremely excited to see other people in their costumes though. Now I make it a point to always check for theme days so I can really enjoy my trip!
Sounds liek you guys are going to have loads of fun!
My daughter and family(8and4yr olds) are booked on the Magic in Oct. How do you find out when the theme days are? Do they post them on the website? I think it would be cute for her to "surprise" them with costumes on those days.
We told the kids at Christmas and DD (5) is most upset that it is only a 5 day cruise and she has 7 princess dresses!
We're packing (much to her dismay!) 4 princess dresses plus a pirate princess outfit for her. DS (4) will be taking his pirate outfit plus his woody costume.
OVer the last two years, DH has received several cars, toy story etc. t-shirts .... so we will be packing those. I have a pirate bandana for DH which he will likely wear with a black t-shirt on pirate night. My guess is that he may be more into it when we sail Fantasy a year from now.
I also will need an extra bag for our Fish Extender and FE gifts (doing a gift exchange through another site).
