Disney Pulls out of Vancouver for Alaska

Sad for us Vancouverites. Personally I think the Seattle Alaska Route is awful.

Disney Cruise Line will stop using Vancouver as port-of call - News1130

Thanks
I Agree but it will help your cousins over here on the Island as we get two vists 2011 then the 14 in 2012. My theory is the market will determine what happens in 2013
see my blog, added some more detail
Actually we should check to see the ports beong visited in 2011 vs 2012 as it might impact a lot of the excursions business who have made modifications to have Disney passengers

The ports of call in Alaska have stayed the same. Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway and Tracy Arm.

I love Vancouver and sailing from there, but Seattle is more logistically convenient for American citizens cruising to Alaska. You certainly must still clear customs after your cruise having sailed into foreign territory, but it's much easier to handle customs for a single ship at the Seattle pier that it is at the Vancouver pier and the airport with passengers at times from several ships being processed simultaneously.

Think of it this way, when you fly to Vancouver, you clear customs arriving into Canada; you sail back into America and then clear customs after your cruise returning into Canada once more; and then you clear customs yet again at the airport to return into the States. Not to mention, round-trip flights in and out of Seattle are often less expensive than those in and out of Vancouver. I'm sure Disney recognizes the logistical benefits for its passengers sailing from Seattle.

You pulled up an old thread. They're coming back to Vancouver next year for some sailings.

Every Sunday for the past Alaska season we had Disney Wonder docking in Victoria which was a decision to move out of Vancouver in 2011 season.

Glad to hear Disney will be adding some sailings to Vancouver for 2013.
I have not heard the Vancouver port fees being that high as otherwise the lines like Princess , HA, Carnival would have been complaining as they have more ship visits to Vancouver.
