Default Luggage in Venice

We are going to be in Venice for a night after a cruise in Oct. I have some concerns about dealing with luggage after the cruise. We haven’t decided on a hotel yet.We will try to get one near the terminal to avoid dragging our bags too far. Would it be better to use the train or the busses to get to the airport the next day? How is luggage handled in each case .I would really appreciate some advice from someone who has done this. A hotel recommendation would be great too.

If you are staying in Venice proper you can take the #5 ATVO bus depending on what time your flight is they have luggage storage under the bus
www.atvo.it/index.php?lang=en
You can also do a land taxi
If you want to be close to the bus look for a hotel in Piazza Roma area
a good website is

Thanks,Lulu. We booked a hotel right on the edge of Piazza Roma . On Google Earth it doesn't look like we have to cross even one bridge. With a little research ,I think I've figured out the luggage bit. Thanks again.

It may be too late, but I liked this hotle in that area:

The airport bus does pick up / drop off in Piazzale Roma.

It isn't far from the dock, but I wouldn't want to walk it if carrying luggage. Hopefully you ship will have some sort of shuttle you can take. taxis like to charge extra for any and all luggage they put in the trunk.
