Default New ideas for shipboard entertainment?

So, what are everybody's ideas for new shipboard entertainment?

I had what I think is a great idea this morning. "Shipboard Iron Chef!"

There would be a custom theatre for this show, with a large demonstration kitchen and two large retractable screens coming down from the ceiling so the audience could see close-ups of the action. The audience would be seated at small tables. Due to the fact that a theatre would have to be custom-designed and therefore probably small, with only a limited amount of seats available, and due to the fact that a tasting would be available for each audience member, reservations would be required. During the day the theatre could be used for meetings, conferences, and cooking classes.

The premise would be very similar to the TV show Iron Chef, although abbreviated. Two chefs would have a short amount of time (much less than an hour, of course) to make dishes with the theme ingredient. Now, these cruise ship shows would have to be scripted, carefully choreographed, and not at all spontaneous for a number of reasons - but that would be transparent to the audience. The showmanship of the cooking, the tension of being able to prepare a dish on time, and the rivalry between the chef and challenger would be played up.

When time is up, it's time for tasting. Each audience member receives a plate containing a small amuse-bouche portion of each dish (prepared in the galley while the show is going on, of course... since the show is scripted and the menu predetermined, this would be easy to do.) First, the dishes of the challenger, followed by the dishes of the iron chef. When the audience member is finished, he/she votes on which chef's dishes best articulate the theme ingredient. The voting could be accomplished on a small hand-held polling device attached to each chair much like the "poll the audience" feature of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. The results would be instant and would be announced by "the chairman."

Now, I think that would be great entertainment! Not only would it be an exciting show, but it would include delicious food and audience participation - the ingredients for a successful production.

Cheers,
Michelle B.

I thought a good game for cruising would work like the "Baghdad deck." Participants would pay a set fee to play. The time limit would be the length of the cruise.

Each player would then be photographed and 52 cards--Ace to King, each suit--would be printed with the photo of each player.

Game decks would be assembled so that no two cards in the deck had the same face. Each participant would get one deck consisting of 52 different faces. The idea would be to trade with other players until you have a complete deck of your own face. The first to present a complete deck of his/her own face to the purser's desk would win 90% of the till.

Is there any way I could make money for thinking this up? I could use the proceeds.

Steve
