Carnival Legend to be exact. And in Clubs I mean nightclubs. Anyone that has been on the Legend, do they actually play music you can dance to? (ie. Club/trance/techno/electronica music) I'm 21 and an avid goer of nighclubs in my city, and I just want to be prepared for when I step foot into the club(s) on the Legend that I won't keel over when I hear the type of music they're playing.
you might want to post that question in one of the higher traffic forums. maybe in the carnival forum? i posted a question up here quite some time ago and never got a response, however i did when i moved it. hope that helps a little. btw, i wish they'd play some REAL club music on the ships, but they rarely do. if you are really nice and the clubs aren't busy, they'll play stuff you bring sometimes. one time my friends were all partying their butts off on the cruise and some friends had a bunch of techno/trance cds and the dj just played whatever they wanted. it was pretty cool.
hey, i was on the legend over thanksgiving and when i went to the night club, they played mainly "classic" kind of songs that my dad listens to (on one night at around 2:30AM), like oldies kinda stuff and then another night they were playing rap music and a small portion of techno. hope i helped...
I perform Electronica/Techno music live !
Im an electronic musician and do a sophisticated solo show, performing on drums/keyboards!!
My 1st (3) 40 minute set's are for the people that like to dance to a disco beat with familiar Rock and Pop song's of the 60's /70's & 80's!! My final 4th set is an All Electronica/Techno Dance show for the current music Dance fan's.
Now if that isnt appealing to a vast audience,Nothing does.
Only problem is the cruise lines cant afford to hire me!!
I cant do this show on a cruise ship's solo entertainer's salary of $500 per week.
Not even for $1000.
I have agents to pay,a road manager and a road technician.
As of which 2 of the 3 travel with my show.
They work hard too and need to be paid.
If the cruise company could pay me what they pay most of the "Fair Rated" 4 piece lounge bands they have ,i could & would love to perform for all the wonderful cruiser's and companie's.!!
I have a Unigue Live Solo Show and I keep people Dancing..
I have seen the band's and solo talent on board, and there is room for much improvement.
Yet my show is to unique for cruise ship's..& ..so i Tour America in my 33' RV and play land gig's instead.
I think someone here mentioned the cruise ship's need to reconsider the entertainment they hire and i agree with them 100%!
For those of you about to Cruise..I salute you!!
And remember please...
When your back on land, keep an eye open for me performing in your city .
Be sure to say hello!!
I went on Carnival Fantasy in April. They have one club on there that plays current music or as one said earlier "booty" music in it and in the teen club. The music was not rave but still good (not the kind your dad plays as you said). But, just like the clubs on land ... they don't start to get busy until around 10:30 and later.
I went on the Fantasy in June and the DJ was hilariously bad. He didn't know how to mix records and the songs would abruptly start and stop. It was all 70s stuff too, which wasn't too bad since I grew up in the disco era. But even at a ripe old age of 42, I listen to techno and prefer to dance to it.
Going on the Imagination in November. Hope we have a hipper DJ.
i don't have alot of "Carnival" expirience (but i am booked on the Glory with a bunch of friends in jan 2005)....but as for other lines (Royal/Celeb/NCL)...i've found that they tend to play the exact same 'wedding-type' dance music in the clubs. After the nightclub clears (2am and later) they tend to bust out the techno/rave type music---that usually fills up the dancefloor with whoever is left over in the club.
