Is there a way to find out which performers which will performing on a particular cruise/date in advance? Or are they hired/determined pretty close to sailing time?
I know of ways to learn about entertainment on the Carnival ships but there are times when issues prevent an entertainer from making the ship evn when they are "scheduled" to be there.
Most ships have comedians, piano bar players, magicians, etc.
If you can narrow down which cruise line and the sailing time frame someone might be able to find out for you.

Thanks for the info. I'm on the Emerald Princess sailing out on Oct 19th.
Most "regular" performers are there on a contract similar to other crew. Specialty performers such as comedians might vary more because they may not sail the entire length of the cruise.

I recommend you call the cruiseline about a month before your cruise to see who the entertainment/headliners will be. If you look at cruise reviews/posts from previous cruisers, they will often comment on what they liked/disliked about the entertainment.
Unless I am on a ship, where there is specialty entertainment, as was on the Epic, like Blue Man Group, or on the Allue or Oasis, where you have to book ahead, I don't want to know. So much of the spontinaity of cruising is gone now, I'd rather find out when I look at the daily newsletter.

I e-mailed Royal Caribbean about entertainers several times in the past. Sometimes I got a list (usually about 75% accurate, by the way), other times no response.
I had read somewhere that Princess e-mails a list of entertainers, CD & Captain for their cruises. I had one Princess cruise scheduled, had to cancel two weeks before, never received any info.
Best bet is probably to e-mail the cruise line a month or so before. No guarantees you'll get a response, though.
