Is there a cruise that encompasses these three cities? It doesn't matter which city the cruise starts in. Intended month of travel is September 2001. Also intend travelling through Turkey plus a short trip around Rome area.
I am going on the HAL Noordam May 17th, 2001 (10 Day). It does not do Venice, but it does do Naples (for Pompeii). Ports of call are: Istanbul (overnight), Kusadasi, Turkey; Samos, Greece; Mykonos, Greece (Appollo); Santorini, Greece: Katakolon, Greece (Olympia); Loutracki, Greece (Corith); At Sea; Naples, Italy; Rome, Italy on May 27th.
I'm going on the August 20th (other sailings as well), starting in Istanbul, going to Barcelona. Stops in Venice, but I don't think Rome. Naples, though...
Hope that helps.
Look into Princess or Orient Lines Grand Mediterranean. My first cruise and can't wait!!
Hi, I'm Ian, myself and partner are also first time cruisers aboard the Golden on 20th August. We are British and in our forties.
We have booked a few days in Istanbul pre-cruise.
Going on a tour of the Golden when it arrives in Southampton on the the 7th May.
Counting the days, can't wait :-)
Princess's "Grand Mediterranean" itinerary (departing alternately from Barcelona and Istanbul aboard the brand new MV Golden Princess every ten days all summer) calls at Kusadasi (Ephesus), Pireaus (Athens), Venice, Naples (Capri and Pompeii), Monte Carlo, and Barcelona with overnight stays aboard ship in Istanbul, Venice, and Barcelona. She does not call at Civitavecchia (Rome), but she does offer a two-day shore excursion to Rome that leaves the ship in Naples and rejoins the ship in Livorno or vice versa. The two-day shore excursion stays overnight at a hotel in Rome.
Princess also sends a couple other ships to the Mediterranean at other times of the year. This year, MV Royal Princess and MV Crown Princess were there in April and May and MV Pacific Princess will be there in November and December. These ships generally have a rather diverse spectrum of itineraries. One or another of them will offer an itinerary that includes at Istanbul, Venice, and Rome, but you might have mised it for this year. MV Royal Princess has returned to the Mediterranean in late summer in the past, but this year she has an early (August) crossing for Canada/New England itineraries instead.
