Choosing between Paganelli, Wildner, Ala or Albergo Cavallett. A boat dock is a must with a lot of luggage. Anyone stayed there ? Any other ideas ? We arrive in Nov.
As far as I know only the Paganelli, which is on Riva degli Schiavoni, would have a dock for vaporetti/private taxis. All of the hotels seem to have web sites or try www.venere.it. for many hotels.
Also try hotelwiz.com, itwg.com, etc. etc. Take a look at a good Frommer's or Let's Go Italy guide. We stayed at Bernardi-Semenzato, but only pulled one suitcase each. It's cheap, popular and clean, and has PLENTY of atmosphere, and is not far from the vaporetto stop or Rialt Bridge. I found many other good places on the net as well.
We stayed at the Pensione Accademia which had it's own dock and it was wonderfully located in a residential area not far from San Marco but far enough to not be overrun with the crowds.
