port in venice
We have looked in a lot of books and even phoned Celebrity, but no one seems to know where the port in Venice is. No one can give us a genreal vacinity of it either. Does anyone have any idea where it is. We will be taking the Millenium, and we were told by someone that the Millenium gets the closest spot in the port to dock at (close as in, closest to the main town), but a street name would be extremely helpful as we need to book a hotel in Venice, and we want it to be somewhere between the airport and the ship.
Thanks, -Paige |
Re: port in venice
The port in Venice for the Millennium is the Stazione Maritima. If you have a map and find where this, you will see that it would be tough to find a place that would actually be between both the port and the airport. We cruised Millennium Barcelona to Venice on May 11 and stayed in Venice about a 45 minute walk from the ship- and a half hour walk to St. Mark's Square near the Accademia bridge. We loved the location and the hotel. (It's the Pensione Accademia if you are interested)
If you head over to Cruise Critic and pose this same question of their ports board under Europe, you'll get a lot of responses to your question from recent and this summers cruisers. We had an awesome time! Have a great cruise- we LOVE Venice! Nancy |
Re: Re: port in venice
Does anyone happen to know where Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas docks in Venice?
Thanks! |
Re: Re: Re: port in venice
In June it docked in the canal a few blocks from St. Mark's Sq. I hope it docks there July 25 when are onboard. It's much more convent than in the ship terminal.

Re: Re: Re: Re: port in venice
As petroona said Marritima is the place, no where in Venice is that far away, we had a long check in time as 4 other ships in port. once boarded they run a shuttle boat to the vaporreto station for St Marks sq. enjoy its a great cruise

Re: port in venice
It sounds like there are multiple places for cruise ships to dock in Venice. If anyone knows for sure about the Millennium, please clue us in! Thanks.

Uh...David, as stated above we did the Millennium in May and it docked at Stazione Maritima.

Re: Re: port in venice
How do you get from the port to your hotel? It sounds like the easiest way if you have luggage, is to take a water taxi and to make sure it stops directly at your hotel.
Also how about getting from your hotel back to the airport? |
Re: Re: Re: port in venice
JSH,
Really depends on where your hotel is. I emailed the hotel we stayed at to find out the easiest way to get there (we walked). And our departure from the airport was very early- so to be safe we took a water taxi- expensive but wonderful. |
Re: port in venice
I just read a good "guide to Venice" on this site. From the home page and destinations - Europe - Venice.
