Hi

Were on the QE2 last year and went to Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen and Geiranger so can give you some info on all of those - if any apply.

You can email me directly on gillians@minolco.co.za.

Just briefly -
Oslo - way too much to do in one day so you need to be selective
Geiranger - the only place we took a tour - superb
Bergen and Stavange - easily explored by yourselves. Bergen is large, Stavanager you may want to branch out a little.

Depends also on what you like to do.

If I cna I will gladly help.

Regards
Gillian

My husband and I took the trip up (Bergen to Kirkenes) in August 2 years ago. Here is some quick advice:

The ship leaves ON TIME from every port. Don't be late or you'll be catching up to the ship at your own expense. It happened to some folks on our cruise.

You'll have 20 mins in some ports and over 4 hrs in others. There are a handful of organized shore excursions. Recommend the one in North Cape, as it's the only way you'll see it. Other than that, we did our own thing. They provide maps and points of interest for each major port. You can walk or, in major ports, grab a cab or public transportation.

There is no formal entertainment -- ever. Most evenings, you'll be pulling into ports so can get out & stretch your legs, or stay inside and read. Just be prepared.

Dress warmly! Obviously, it gets colder the further north you go. It was cold (probably in the 40s) at North Cape in mid August. Layers are good as is a warm jacket.

Dress casual. There are no formal nights and it's not uncommon to see jeans in the dining room.

If you're a camera buff, you will get some fantastic pictures.

Spend an extra day in Bergen before or after your trip -- we wished we'd had more time there.

You can bring your own beverages on board (and might want to b/c cokes and alcohol are $$; you can also buy them in most ports). We thought the food was excellent -- lots of fresh fish.

We had a great time. It's both similar and different from a traditional cruise. Let me know if you have additional questions. (P.S., you don't go to Oslo, although you probably know that.)
