Our Celeb itin has changed our tender port from Villfranche to cannes--making it a longer drive to monte carlo--does anyone know why the change was made & has anyone tendered in cannes & gone to Montecarlo?
I was on a cruise that switched from Villefranche to Cannes at the last minute - due to weather. It is only about 5 miles more in distance to Monte Carlo. The unfortunate thing is that the tendering pier we used wasn't that close to the center of Cannes (1-2 miles).
The location in Villefranche is much more interesting and to the close train station. I am also on a cruise this summer (RCI) that stops in this area and I hope we don't get sent to Cannes.
In terms of the reason for the switch it could be based on traffic. See this link to get an idea of what the harbor is like in Villefranche:
thanks for the reply & the links...-I assumed it was much further away because the tour is almost two hrs longer..may it is traffic & a slightly different tour. guess we have no choice abt where the ship will dock!
Looking forward to seeing Monaco/Monte Carlo even if on a tour!
Perhaps your tour has some extra stops in it now. Have fun! My own plan for the summer is to just wander around in Villefranche and maybe take the train into Monte Carlo if time permits.
