Ncl Jade Western Mediterranean, Round-trip Barcelona
 

I just booked our first Mediterranean cruise for 7 days. Who those who have done this trip my question is will I be able to do Monte Carlo on my own? Any good tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Maggie, the ships normally moor up outside the harbour, then run a tender service right into the yacht marina, from where you follow the VERY nice yachts and are at the main road in a matter of minutes.
There is a road train (Azur Express) that runs around the principality, which is well worth considering as it is way steeper than it looks on the tele or in pictures. Their website is Monaco Official Site - Azur Express Tourist Train

The train has commentary in English, Italian, German and French, and makes stops are the oceanographic museum and aquarium, Monaco Palace, harbor, Casino Square & Gardens.

There are plenty of bars along the harbor, and the prices aren't too bad. If you enjoy sports themes, then there is a bar called Stars'n'Bars towards the end of the harbor with masses of memorabilia. See Stars'N'Bars - Monte Carlo, Monaco - Welcome visitor 447320

If you want to see Princess Grace Kelly's tomb, it is in St. Nicholas' Cathedral, but please be warned, it is VERY dark & not really worth making a special effort to see - unless of course you are a fan of her work.

Then of course, if you want to go shopping, make sure to pack lots of credit cards LOL

I booked the same cruise and was wondering how you are getting there? Which airports are you using and are you flying straight through or do you have a stop over. We are trying to figure out what to do We will be leaving from NY

The Jade did not tender when we went last month, it was docked. We walked up to the palace, take the elevator (free), not the stairs and did the boat taxi to the casino (5 Euros). Don't miss the changing of the guard at noon.
We flew into Barcelona BCN from JFK, non stop.
