I saw this on tv, this morning. In Rome, and probably elsewhere as well, this scam is becoming more frequent.
They say, someone is tossing a baby in the air, [not a real baby] and, when people see what is taking place, the "things" you might have dropped to help, will be removed by those involved in the scam.
On my recent cruise on the Magic, we didn't see, or, hear of anyone caught in a pick pocket, or, take my picture scam, but, a few days ago, it was mentioned in John Healds blog a woman got her camera stolen by the Trevi Fountain, using that ruse. Course, she blamed Carnival!!

While in Barcelona (pickpocket capital of the world) we actually saw this:
A pickpocket came up to a fellow passenger on our cruise and tapped him on the shoulder while holding up a wallet with the comment "Sir, your wallet?" When the perplexed passenger checked his pockets and said "Yes it is!" the pickpocket scooped all of the cash out and handed the now empty wallet to the passemger with the statement "Reward!" and promptly disappeared into the crowd.
I've never seen anything before that was quite that brazen.
