We are going on a cruise from Istanbul Turkey to Barcelona Spain and are staying 1 extra night in each port. Norweigian has cruise extenders, but only for 2 nights. Any suggestions for hotels in either Istanbul or Barcelona and tips for hotel to ship tips?
Greg, we are sailing 8-11 Millie Ist to Bar, staying at Swissotel Istanbul, and Hotel Artes/Ritz Carlton Barcelona...either hotel can provide sedan service between airport/hotel/ship, not that expensive. it's not like you do this every week, right???
there is a special at ritz in barcelona, $200 per night per room, including breakfast... swissotel was a little more $$, but also included breakfast...plus we have 1-1/2 day tour with sedan in Ist and transfer to grand bazaar and then to ship...you can go to website for any international hotels (hilton, ritz, intercontinental) or talk to your TA, who should know all this stuff.. good luck and happy sailing!!!
We took the same cruise last year on Princess - We stayed at the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul and Hotel Arts in Barcelona. Both hotels were wonderful and you can get some great deals by searching the web.
Have a wonderful trip!
We are sailing on the Millie Sep 4th Istanbul to Barcelona cruise. We picked the Blue House Hotel operated by AllStar Hotels. THe main reason we choose this hotel is their terrace restaurant that overlooks the Blue Mosque and its location within walking distance to the major sites. They also offer an airport shuttle service for free. Here is the email address that we used. You can also look up the Blue House on the interenet they have their own website.

We also stayed at the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul. What a wonderful hotel! It is right on the Bosphorus. We chose the Ritz in Barcelona (not the Ritz-Carlton) because it was right in Barcelona. We didn't have many days there & wanted to be right in the heart of things. Fantastic restaurant, too.
We stayed at Le Meridien in Barcelona. The hotel was very nice! The location was absolutely fabulous! We were just off La Rambla so able to check it out all times of day and evening. It is also a very easy walk to the Gothic Quarter. We used a very good guide in Barcelona. If you are interested, email me.
