Glenn,
What does the cruise line want for this trip? We will be on the Pride Sept2nd and want to see Paris also. Are you on the Pride?
Thanks for your help.

Would like to tour Normandy and WWII sites from LeHarve port on our own and not take the Princess cruise tour. Anyone have information on private cars or taxis we can hire for the day, or private guide. How easy is it to do on your own???

Glenn,

I found a web address for the French national railroads at www.sncf.com. Click on the British flag and you start getting English-language text.

If truth be told, I haven't ridden the SNCF in years---BUT I do know that the French were willing to pay for better, faster high-speed rail service, and there's a high speed rail line connecting to Paris and the coast.

Once you're in Paris, you can use a very extensive subway, bus (Metro) and express transit service (RER).

Glen,
I found the taxi service at LeHavre that does all kinds of tours. Their website is www.taxilehavre.com. Hope this helps. Heard from a girl who took the train a year ago, she missed the early train so had to wait 2 hours for the next one so only ended up with like 4 hours in Paris. Think the taxi is a better way to go.

You can take the train, takes 2 hours each-way. Check out this website if you wish
