Does anyone know if there is easy access to taxis in the port of Warnemunde. We are booking our own train to Berlin (the cruise ship is overcharging for this service) but want to make sure that we will be able to make it from the port to the train station.
A car rental is the way to go. We rented a BMW 330 D for 65 dollars. We then traveled the Autobahn all day long. We saw Berlin, Hamburg, Rostock, and Weismar. It was a great day I will never forget. It is fun driving the Beammer at those fast highway speeds.
We had to take the train into Rostock to rent a car because it was Sunday . There was only one rental agency open on Sunday from 9 to noon.
We are travelling to the Baltics on the Celebrity Constellation on Aug.2nd. Is there enought time to go into Berlin & back if you don't take the cruiseline excursion? I am worried about not getting back in time... Would love to see Berlin, but the excursions are extremely expensive... Any suggestions of other tour companies to use there? The itinerary says we go to Rostock, arriving at 7:30 am and leave at 9:30 pm.
Thanks in advance,
Driving will be far faster than the train/bus tours. Don't forget you can grive very fast. 100 m.ph. or 140 k.p.h. is not uncommon. You can get to Berlin and back with no problem. If you're afraid of the distance, go to Hamburg and Weismar. That will give you a nice taste of Germany.
We too rented a car at the port. It was in 2001 and was $65.00. We got to Berlin much faster than the people in the tour buses. We had lunch and met a tour guide through BERLIN WALKS. I can't recommend them enough. It was the highlight of our Baltic trip. We used the metro and walked for 3 straight hours. It was amazing!
