Med cruise Venice-Barcelona

We will be taking a cruise from Venice in May to Barcelona. Does anyone know where the boat docks in both cities? In Venice is it in the city or outside the city? Barcelonia where does the ship dock. Ship is Star Princess.

I'm jealous. We have the same tour in July. In Barcelona the ship docks right at the end of the most popular street Las RAmblas. In Venice I believe it is a tender in but they are near the Grand Canal and take you to St. Marks. Please let me hear about your trip when you return. In Venice be sure to take the Secret Itineries Tour at the Doges Palace. They do it in English a couple times a day and well worth it!

In Barcelona, the dockyards are indeed at the foot of Las Ramblas. You can find them on any map of the city. However, the docks cover a pretty large area, so it can be a good 15 minute walk from the ship to the foot of that great promenade. It's also about a 10 minute cab ride from the old city.

In Venice, the ships dock near the Grand Canal, where of course you can pick up a water bus (vaproretto) to anywhere you want to go. Again, you can find the deepwater piers on any map of Venice.

Barcelona has constructed a "new" cruise ship terminal at the Moll Adossa, across the harbor from the World Trade Center. (it's actually a converted warehouse). It's a long walk from the Colon Monument (at the foot of Las Ramblas) over a high bridge to get to the cruise ship pier. Instead, you can catch the blue bus from the Colon Monument (there's a little kiosk on the harbor side of the street) to the cruise ship terminal for $1.50. Go to www.portic.net for maps of the harbor area.

Cheers,
Richard
