Default Weather in the Baltic

We are going on the Radisson Voyager to the Baltic August 20. Does anyone know what kind of weather we sould expect. Will it be cold enough to bring a winter jacket?
Should we bother with shorts? I was thinking capri pants and slacks, one heavier pair, with short sleeve tee shirts and a couple of long sleeve ones. We are very light packers, one suitcase each. Any ideas? Has anyone been to these ports in the past?
We are doing Copenhagen, Tallin, St. Pete, Helsink, Stockholm and then 4 days post cruise to Moscow. Thanks to all.

Mary Lou

WE did this cruise a couple of years ago about the same time you are going. Seems that everywhere we go they are having "unusually hot" weather. Even St. Petersburg was only a little cool in the mornings. We wore summer clothes (not necessarily shorts on shore) and had a windbreaker for the cooler weather. We didn't go to Moscow so don't know about there. Sounds like you've planned pretty well but I don' t think you'll need a winter jacket.
Have fun.

There is no need to bring winter jacket. Autumn is summer month in Estonia and neighbouring countries.
But weather in Baltic area can be very variable- sometimes hot, sometimes chilly.
You can find more detailed information about Estonia on following websites

Climate and clothing

Very good global weather information, incl temperature history in Tallinn

BBC world weather, incl weather in Tallinn

I believe similar weather is in neighboruing coutries as well

The weather in Finland this summer has been guite bad.Has been some raining almost evry day and no much very hot days. However the weather can still get warm during august and has sometimes been really hot also.So you can never know.Last summer was brilliant and hot, this summer not so far...
Dont think that you do need a wintercoat but the shorts or capris will be fine here during the day.
Have a pleasant trip and enjoy Helsinki :-)

Im going to cruise on mediterrian next saturday :-)

we went a 4 years ago around your time on the milleniums madien voyage and it was pretty warm. we though that there was no need for a winter jacket. for us a light sweater or wind breaker was o.k.

Mary Lou,
when are you going to be in Moscow? We are doing a 4 night pre-cruise with Radisson and sailing from Stockholm on Aug 27. I bet we will just miss you.
Are you staying at the National Hotel?

I just returned from that itinerary this week. I don't know about August, but the first two weeks of July were very cool with intermittent rain all but two days. Nobody wore shorts, and everyone wore a jacket (preferably with a hood for the rain) of some kind every day. That being said, no sightseeing activities were curtailed. We just didn't spend as much time out on the ship's deck as we would have liked.
