Default train to rome

We will be taking the train from Civitavechia to Rome (city). I have heard that there may be a problem with baggage - there is no checked baggage and if you have large cases, you may have to leave them at the ends of the train cars, with the possibility of them being stolen.

Has anyone taken this train and can they advise re luggage. Thanks in advance.

We put our luggage on the overhead rack and in the seat next to us. If the train is crowded, you can put it in the luggage compartment and sit in the first seats in the compartment. This way you can see your luggage.

Have done this trip twice. Like all European trains there is a luggage compartment at the end of the carriage. It is only an hour on the train so at the worst you can stand by it. It is a lot cheaper way to get to Rome than any of the alternatives.
