Default Villefranche and monte carlo

When arriving in Villefrance how do you get to the train station to travel to Monte Carlo. Is the train station a short walk or do you have to take a taxi. Where does it drop you off and then what is the best way to get around in the city. Traveling on RCCL Brilliance this summer.

According to Frommer's (or was it Fodor's) the train station is only 5 minutes away and can take you anywhere on the Cote d'Azur.

The train station is a very short walk from where you tender ashore in Villefranche. It may be under 5 minutes... The train to Monoco/Monte Carlo runs often and the price was so reasonable that I don't remember what it was. You will arrive in the main part of Monoco - not far from the palace. You will be able to walk all around town from where the depot is.

We're going back this fall on the Splendour and will be training between Villefranche and Nice to the west and Monoco to the east

Thank you so much for the train information -- can you walk from the palace to the casino or is it too far for walking?

Thanks

It's walkable, but the palace is up a steep hill. You can take public transit to and from the palace and casino - red and blue lines, if I recall correctly - there are maps posted at every bus shelter and at the train station. Buy an all-day bus ticket if you plan to take several hops.

hey:
Check out my post on this guys question board "private tours in Villefranche".

As for where the train station is, when you tender in, you're going to exit the terminal and then follow the beach with the strip of restaurants before it. You'll see a hole in the wall (tunnel for the train) when the ship pulls in, and that's where the train station is, just walk when you get out of the terminal, in front of all the restaruants in the direction of the beach! Once you've passed around the last ocean front restaurant, on the left there's stairs going up to the station, one side goes east and the other platfom goes west. it's quite a small little (beautiful) village and lots of people will be headed where you're going, especially the port and shopping guide! Hook onto them if you need to, they'll show you where to go!
