Anyone going on this cruise? Would like to share tours. This is our first cruise so any info concerning do it yourself tours at the ports would be helpful. Have read several reviews about Marseille not worth leaving the ship for..??? Our other ports are Villefranche - Livorno - Civitavecchia - Naples - Barcelona. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
My wife and I are also going on this cruise. We are thinking about doing our own tours, like maybe getting transportation to Rome, etc. and doing our own thing. Have you looked into any tour guides? The ship excursions are pretty expensive.
This is our first time to Europe. I have been on a Caribbean cruise with Carnival in 1999 but nothing like this one.
I just had a response from another couple on the Cruise Critic msg board and they are investigating a private Rome tour with a recommened tour company. With six people the expense shouldn't be too bad. I would rather go with a driver than trust publis transportation and this is what other people have said also, especially since our time is so limited. I'll let you know more when I hear from them. Would you be interested? Have you signed up for the Meet & Mingle ? My cousin has traveled extensively in Europe and did this same cruise but many years ago so she had a lot of advice.
You have booked a great cruise - and a PERFECT time of the year to do it! We did Splendor of the Seas in the Med. in 2000 and it was a wonderful cruise on a wonderful ship! We're going to try it this May on the Millie. We have booked a combination of private tours and ship's tours and are looking forward to everyone of them.
Have a wonderful time - and you might want to bop over the Cruisecritic web site and look at the Meet and Mingle board - lots of fun to talk with lots of folks who are booked on the same ship.......
