My husband & I will be joining you. We just booked this trip about a week ago. We are very excited. Where are you from? We live in the Chicago area.

We are from Calgary, Alberta. There are 6 of us going...girls cruise!!

We have a pre-cruise stay of two days in Rome. I have been to Italy before (Rome, Venice and Florence) but the rest will be new for us.

Are you going before or staying longer in Rome? Have you been to Europe before? This will be my 5th cruise...4th with Carnival!

Girls Cruise - Sounds AWESOME! I bet you will have a great time.

This will be my first trip to Europe. My husband has been to England but never to any of these ports. We will be staying in Rome a couple days before the cruise but haven't booked a hotel yet. Do you have any suggestions?

Since you have been to Italy before do you have any suggestions on things we shouldn't miss while we are there?

We booked our pre cruise through Carnival. They are putting us up at either the Cicerone Hotel or the Visconte Palace Hotel. They are suppose to be close to everything, the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, Colisseum, Spanish Steps, etc. I would suggest doing a tour of Rome for sure taking in all of the above!

In Venice I would definately recommend in the evening to sit outside at one of the cafes in St. Marks Square. We did this on our own when we were there and it was fabulous. Sitting under the stars in Venice and listening to music and having some wine. I would also suggest the island tour of Burano and Murano and of course you must do the gondola ride. Again, we booked the gondola on our own. Personally I found the tours of Doges Palace lengthy and boring!

Florence we went to Pisa and saw the Cathedral and the leaning Tower. In Florence we just shopped around and saw the statute of David. I think this time we will do Tuscany and/or Florence.

I am really looking forward to Sicily (Mt. Edna) and Monacco/Monte Carlo (visiting the casino)!

Did you book your dinner seating yet? We put in for late seating, but you never know what you get until you get there, but you can always change it. Are you planning on booking any excursions before hand?

Only 114 more days, actually 112 until we are in Rome!!
Chat soon,
Veronica

Veronica - Thanks for the tips. I will check out those hotels. As you can tell, we didn't book the hotel through Carnival.

I can't wait to do the gondola ride in Venice! The mental picture I have right now of sitting under the stars in St Marks Square .....ahhhh it just sounds perfect! There is so much I want to do on this trip. I hope we have time to do it all. We haven't booked any tours yet. I need to concentrate on getting the hotel first.

We requested the late (8:30) dinner. I really like the late dinner so I hope we get that time.

112 days and counting!

Your welcome.

We requested the late dinner as well. We are going to book some excursions in case they sell out. Not booking any for Venice though. It would be pretty easy and less expensive to book the Italian night on our own rather than pay $155!!! Same goes for the gondola ride and touring around Venice.

My dilemma will be Cannes. I want to do Cannes, Nice, St. Tropez , Monocco and Monte Carlo....its not going to happen! So I think I will don Monocco and Monte Carlo. Save the others for next time

Have you two cruised before?? Hopefully we can meet on the cruise!!

We have cruised before and really enjoy it. All of our cruises have been to the Caribbean. I love the weather there but it was time for a change. I wanted to go somewhere new this year, which is why we booked this trip. Since I have never been to Europe I thought it would be nice to see a little bit of several different countries. We had to get a balcony cabin so I can sit outside and relax when we are not in a port.

I feel bad that I haven't even looked at the tours yet. I just haven't had time to investigate everything. I hate when work interferes with my vacation planning!

Can't wait to set sail. Hope to see you onboard.
