Just an alert if anyone has questions re Baltic ports, see my new Star Princess reader review on this site -- extensive details re ports on your own (and private tours in Russia).
Hello
Thank you for the great post and review, I am sure many will find it quite useful. I agree with pretty much everything you wrote, which is something because I live in St Petersburg and read all sorts of inaccurate "information" posted by short time visitors and by shills working for agencies. It is very difficult for new visitors to get good information. Some other cruise forums are so biased that it is the norm to erase posts that concern tours and activities that offer a different view than the one paid for.

I am so happy that I found your review today. I found it even more valuable than the guidebooks you recommend! (several of which I have purchased) We are on the Star leaving July 4 from Copenhagen. You answered so many of my questions, especially regarding trains and how to get off the ships when you are independent. I printed out all 15 pages and plan to take it with us on our cruise. You said you were tired after the 10 days--makes me wonder how we will do traveling in Sweden for 10 more days! Yours is one the best reviews I have seen and I am so glad it was on our trip (except we will do Berlin). Thank you so much for taking the time to provide such a wonderful commentary-Ever think of being a travel writer?
