Cheaper airfare to Europe
Has anyone found cheaper airfare to Europe? I cannot find anything less than $1000 per person. Any ideas?

Am not an agent but just did huge amount of research to get to Rome in the off season from the LA area. If you have time to use the search engines to compare ( I even downloaded "SideStep" which was a BIG help) you will at least be reassured that you are in the right ballpark. Best of luck with your search!

Try this site:

I was on their email newsleter list. Received an email advising that there was some kind of a glitch on Travelocity. Was able to get roundtrip air to London from JFK for $408pp in August. Booked immediately (Virgin Atlantic). The next day the far was gone ....It was very strange. I could not find that cheap fare on any other site - including Virgin Atlantic!

Give it a try, you might save some money - I cetainly did!

Good luck,

We got lucky for our Princess cruise in Nov 06. We were able to use our FF miles with United for two round trip business class flights LAX to Rome. It only cost us $91 each. Saving all those miles finally paid off. Good luck in your search. We are booked on a cruise with Princess in July 06 our airfare with Princess was $900 R/T LAX to London each, we upgraded to Business Class for only $2200 more. The listed United fare for Business Class was over $10,000 R/T per person, our Ta could not belive that Princess could offer us such a good fare. Try your cruise line, they may have a good rate.

I usually book the air on my own because the cruise line fares have always been much higher than what I could get myself. We don't usually upgrade to business class but yes, you did get a fabulous deal on those tickets - good for you! Was the price per person or for the both of you?

Our good fortune FF mile cash in is $91.00 per person RT LAX to Rome in business class. On our Princess cruise in July our fare was $900 per person RT Lax to London. The upgrade to business class was $2200 per person making a total of about $3100 per person (as I said before the United listed fare is about $10,000 per person). We figured that we saved a bunch of money on the Rome trip so we could splurge. I know that by booking your own air you can save money, but often times, and we have done it, you have to go early to allow extra time in case of a delay. That involved getting a hotel at the departure port, which isn't usually bad, but it does require additional costs. So I think if time is important, sometimes the cruise lines can be competitive with their airfares.

Yes, Dands I can agree with that.

We always go in a few days early anyway. If we are cruising in the winter (we live in Buffalo) we want to make certain we don't hit a blizzard and get to the ship before sailing. Flying in early guarantees that we will make the ship on time. We usually book hotels on Priceline and get the accommodations very cheap. However, I had difficulty booking on Priceline in January this year. Had to stay out of Fort Lauderdale and paid double what we usually pay for our hotel rooms. For some reason there were no rooms! Booked the January cruise in November and all the hotels were already booked. Just booked our London hotel on Priceline for $70 US at the London Hilton Kensington. ooking forward to our Baltic cruise on Jewel of the Seas in August.

I have always had super prices with Know what flights are going and their costs ahead of time. This is best for close to last minute. We went Colorado Springs/Amsterdam for $531 rt last summer during high season. They are also good for one ways or for us cruisers who go to and leave from different places.

Thanks for the inforation on the air consolidators.

I usually don't look at cruises that are not round trip - port to port- but I will check it out next time. It is so very expensive to start in one port and return from another one.

I usually book my own air but I was pleasantly surprised to find Celebrity's airfare quote for my October transatlantic on Century: LAX-Barcelona, Miami-LAX was 'only' $859 which was $200+ less than I found in my usual sources

Guess I should try and see if the cruise line can give me a good quote next time, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Thanks for the tip.
