As part of our baltic cruise, my wife and I will be taking a 2 day tour of St. Petersburg this summer through the tour company Red October. There will be 4 other people on the tour with us for a total of 6 people. As I understand it, Red October will supply a driver and a guide.
What would be the appropriate tip for the driver and tour guide? Is tipping appropriate in Russia?
Tipping is certainly acceptable and appreciated in Russia. If you have the same guide and driver for both days, as we did. I'd think for the two of you $100 tip (split maybe 60/40 between the guide and driver) would be appropriate.
We also used "RO" in '04 and agonized over this very point, especially because it was just the two of us for the 2 days. I think we ended up giving $80 to the guide and $50 to the driver. No idea what is or was appropriate for small groups but we felt they were VERY deserving.
