Default Winter Dec/Jan Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt How cold?

Hello,
I was considering a cruise in the month of Dec/Jan. How cold would it feel, would it feel colder because of humidity? Also since this would would be low tourist time would alot of business be closed? I like the route of the MSC Orchestra Dec 6 2007 any advice on excurisions at its ports? Thanks

Snow is pretty rare in the Mediterranean region, but temperatures can go down to the 30's F (lower single digits C), especially in the more northern areas, so bring several layers of clothing including a warm jacket in case you encounter that kind of weather. In the more southern parts of Spain and Italy, daytime temperates tend to be in the 70's or lower 80's F (20's C), and Egypt is likely to be even warmer. Overall, the weather should be great for sightseeing and touring at that time of year.

And nearly all of the facilities will be operating their normal hours.

I'm not familiar with your itinerary so I don't know on which ports of call to comment.

Norm.

I have been to only a couple of those ports, and one of them on a Sunday, but they do sound interesting. I'll catch a few more of them on my "Exotic Mediterranean & Black Sea" cruise aboard MV [i]Galaxy" in the fall.

The city of Naples itself does not have the best reputation, but it's the gateway to Capri, Pompeii, Sorrento, and the Amalfi Coast. You won't have time to do justice to more than one of these during a port of call, so choose one and do it well. I did the full day tour of Capri when I was there, so I can tell you from personal experience that it was great!

Have a great cruise!

Norm.
