Barcelona Dock

We are sailing from Ft. Lauderdale to Barcelona on RCL Navigator of the Seas, arriving 4-26. We are being picked up by friends and wonder if there is a place to wait at the dock terminal (possibly an hour or so) -- does the street go right past it? If not, any suggestions? Thanks!!

Hi there,

There are 2 areas where the ships can dock in Barcelona - the inner & the outer docks. Being as large as the Navigator is, I would expect you to be in the outer docks - but will tell you about both.

The Outer Dock : There is a reception marque which houses all sorts of local goods and drinks, so the best part of an hour can easily be spent looking around that.
The outer docks have plenty of parking space, so if your friends were to arrive before you debarked, they would have no trouble waiting. The area is connected to the mainlad by a main road and bridge (which opens for ships going to the inner port)

The Inner Dock : is just to the north of this bridge, and has a proper lounge with seating area. Outside is another fair sized car park - so if your cruise ends in Barcelona, you may find this is where the ship docks.

If you put the entry "moll oriental, barcelona, spain" into maps.google.com
and switch to satellite mode, you will 2 cruise ships docked at the outer dock. If you then move up the picture, you will see another cruise liner in the inner dock.

We hope this all helps,

Alan & Kartina

Another question on Barcelona,,,

We are starting our cruise from Barcelona,,,
how far is the port from the airport? In driving time,,,,,
We arrive at 7:50 am and the cruise leaves at 6pm..
the Travel agent says that will be plenty of time....

You'll have much more than plenty of time. The airport was just a short cab ride from the port. I forget exactly, but it seems like it was just 15 minutes or so.

For DMH

At the previous reply advised it is not a very long taxi ride down to the docks, but I just wanted to add that the planes usually approach the airport from the North & fly right over the docks - a good way to get your first view (and maybe photo shot) of your luxury floating resort.

Have a great vacation,

Thanks

I know there it is still quite a ways to go (Sept)
But being able to get advise from all of you helps to keep the " something to look forward to" after a long day at work!!!
Thanks so much to all of you!
Hopefully this will be the first of many,,,,
Is it true the more cruises you take,,,,you get better offers for future cruise?

Hi again DMH,

I'm not sure about getting better deals, other than the chance to book on board for on board credits and discounts. I think it is more a case of the more you cruise, the more tips & contacts you pick up which allow you to find those better deals.

Believe me, it WILL be the first of many ;o)
