Does anyone have a recomendation on what to do at this port. I am reallly not interested in driivng to florance for such a short time. Has anyone ever done pisa on their own or gone to Lucca they say that it is relly nice. Is it easy to catch the train at this port.

Also does anyone have a recomendation for getting from the ship in vencie to thehotel. Is the water taxi a good method thanks

We were going to take the train to Pisa, but there was a train strike and we didn't want to risk it. We did a shore excusion to Pisa, it wasn't that great. The tour guide didn't have a mic so I could barely hear her. The Leaning Tower is cool, but we didn't want to climb it so after we took the "picture" there isn't much to do but shop. I resisted the urge, which was go because shopping is cheaper in Livorno. Most people go off to Florance or Pisa so the city of Livorno doesn't have the "tourist" prices the rest of Italy has. I heard Lucca is very nice, but I didn't go there.
Here is the "picture" of me in Pisa.

Default Visiting Pisa or Florence

Pisa is a lovely little town-stroll the streets or sit in an outdoor cafe and watch the people. In addition to the tower, there is the Duomo (lovely cathedral) and a gorgeous bapistry-in my opinion, lovelier than the more famous one in Florence. There is also an old Jewish cemetary but it has limited hours and is usually locked.

If you have never visited Florence, you might wish to consider it: Da Vinci's David, the main square filled with 500 year old sculpture (famous for the Neptune fountain) as well as the Uffizi Gallery, one of the finest art museums in the world. Gold is cheap at the shops along the river but I found the leather goods to be way overpriced (much better pricing in San Gimingano). Fabulous lasagna a the little restaurant next to the Duomo-famous for its external decoration but I found the inside to be boring.
