We are cruising the Grand Princess this October and are wondering if there is any reason to take along our car seat on the boat - for shore excursions etc???? We are driving down so it either stays in the van at the parking or comes with us on board. Any thoughts???
You have a good question. If your shore excursions involve catching a taxi to a beach, then a car seat would be a good idea. However, then you have to carry the car seat with you during your shore excursion...If you are taking a bus excursion, most buses don't have belts for you to buckle the car seat into.
I'll be in the same situation in April when we take our infant on a cruise. It's a tough decision to make as to whether to be inconvenienced by carrying a car seat around during an excursion or take a chance as far as safety is concerned by either buckling a toddler in or holding an infant on your lap in a taxi.
I'm curious to hear what you decide.

When we cruised with our 16 month old in July, we didn't bring our car seat. In every taxi we took in St Thomas St Martin and Nassau (we did San Juan on foot) there were no seat belts to secure the seat anyway.
