We are sailing next month on the Voyager and Jamaica is the only port I'm still undecided on ....... my daughter is almost 5, has no fear of water or animals and knows how to swim w/out a float. My 6 year old son is more cautious and still uses a vest to swim. Would we get more out of a Peat Taylor tour to Dunn's River Falls and then on to the Dolphin Cove for a 1:30PM show? The show at Dolphin Cove is only the 'touching' show since you have to be 8 yrs old to 'swim' with them. It says its a 20 minute show and that the kids dont fully go in the water w/ the dolphins. Has anyone done this show at Dolphin Cove? Is it worth it? Im figuring the kids just stand on the sidewalk and get to reach down to 'pet' a dolphin.....if this is more of a 15 minute 'sit in the audience' type show and watch a dolphin jump in the air........ well - should we bother? (they have been to Seaworld.......)
My other option is to take the San San Yacht Cruise to Dunns Falls. Then on return, it takes you to Laughing Waters for an hour to do some snorkeling (the yacht provides the equipment) then you head back. Im assuming this trip is the one that someone else talked about regarding Dunn's Falls Family boat trips...... If we did this one, it would be a chance for my kids to snorkel- has anyone been to Laughing Waters? Is it varying depths? Is there shallow areas where the kids can float and use a mask to see?
We haven't been to Dolphin Cove nor Laughing waters. However, I think I mentioned that we went on a boat trip to Dunn's River Falls twice with my daughter and she enjoyed it. She can be fearful at times but she was pretty excited about climbing the falls. Of course we had to help her over a few challenging areas. The first time she was five and she and I went half way up. The second time she was seven and went all the way up -- she was quite proud of herself. Make sure you bring water shoes if you plan to climb Dunns River Falls.
I'd love to hear how things went after you return from your cruise.
