We're 8 adults and a baby who will be 14 months at the time of our cruise on the Celebrity Constellation at Christmas. I know many shore excursions will be inappropriate for a year old baby. How can I find info on getting to beaches with facilities or other ideas with a a baby? The ports are: St. Croix, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, Antigua, Barbados our of San Juan. Any advice on how to plan ahead for the ports would be appreciated.
"Cruise Vacations with Kids" guidebook (Candyce Stapen, Prima Publishing) is a good reference. There is a section on age appropriate shore excursions in various cruising regions such as the Caribbean. I find that going to the beach independently is your best bet for toddlers. I usually ask the shore excursion personnel on the ship for suggestions on nice beaches which have facilities and are accessible by a taxi cab. We haven't been steered wrong yet! (We've been on nine family cruises...)
Let me know if you have additional questions.
