Default Cruise Rates for Infants

Has anybody had any luck negotiating down the rate the cruise lines charge for an infant? Royal Caribbean is charging full third person fare for an infant of 3 mos age for a cruise in December 2002. Baby hasn't even been born yet. Any help is appreciated.

We even STILL get discounted tickets for our kids. We've sailed on Carnival, and Princess with kids, and each time the ticket was nicely discounted. I believe we got a good deal this time on the Explorer too, but don't know HOW much of a disc was given. It may depend on the TA you use too. If you don't get the rate YOU want, switch your booking to another line and let the cruise line know WHY, they may go down at the last min if they know they will be losing your business. If you booked through a TA switch TAs to do this. Right now price around with several different TAs online and irl. Know what is being offered and by whom.

On NCL, children under 2 are free. Too bad my son is 2. But 3rd and 4th passengers are less than $200 if they are older than 2.

In addition to the lines mentioned already, Cunard Line does not charge for tots under 2 years old. Cunard's QE2 has a nursery program which most lines, other than Disney, does not. There are a few additional lines which charge discounted youth rates for children of all ages (when traveling with two adults), including Disney and Holland America Line.
Smooth sailing!

Dear Alan

My sister-in-law just paid port charges for her son born last month and who will be 5 months when he sails in July. Check again with your T/A if you have any.
