I would like to visit a nice family friendly beach on Nassau in April. We will be on the Explorer. We would do Atlantis, but don't feel we could really do Atlantis justice for the short time we are there. We would prefer a short trip to a beach and then to just walk around the straw market and stuff since it will be our first time in Nassau. It will be a return trip to all the other ports, so we have our itinerary on them pretty much planned out.
Re: Nassau beaches to do on your own with children
You're right, I wouldn't opt for Atlantis -- I'd wait and go there by land for a few days (it's fabulous)!
I'd ask the shore excursions desk if hotel beaches on Paradise Island allow day trippers. If so, it's certainly close enough to catch a taxi to for part of the day. I prefer going to beaches independently and we've had lots of good recommendations from the shore excursions staff over the years. Let me know what you end up doing!
Smooth sailing,
