We are a family of 5 also, we sailed on the voyager in July, we had 2 rooms that were connecting. The children slept in one room,and we had a king size bed in the other. This worked out well,there were 2 bathrooms an extra closet space.

Check with a good travel agent and have them look into some "family" suites or the suggestion Annette made works well too. Are you looking at any specific cruiselines or ships?
I'm the family cruise editor here. I understand that in addition to the newer Royal Caribbean ships, such as the Voyager, Adventure and Explorer of the Seas, that the newer Carnival ships also have family cabins that can sleep five people.

I am also a family of 5 and did not want to pay for 2 rooms when I know that my just turned 3 yr old will be in my bed in the middle of the night. Carnival will allow you to have 5 people in a standard room. There are the 4 beds and then they will bring in a portable roll away bed for the 5th person if necessary. Although the options that others have give would allow for more room, you really do not spend much time in your room anyway. When you are there it is only to sleep or get ready to go "somewhere".
