We will be sailing on the AOS in February. We will have our 2-1/2 year old with us. Will our nanny be permitted to take her into the childrens room to use the facilities under her guidance? Any advise would be appreciated!
Unless they very recently changed policy, the answer will be no. We sailed the EOS with our boys in the spring. They're both over 3, so we didn't have a problem. But I did speak with another mom with a younger child who said her son kept crying "ball, ball" after seeing the room when her older one was dropped off, but was forbidden by the staff to play in the ball pit. I think its insurance reasons, to guarantee as best they can that nobody will have an "accident" in the balls, etc.
Your child will be more than welcome at the kiddie pool though, and that area is terrific. You or the nanny can also go on the water slide with your child. Its not fast at all, and lots of moms were on it with little ones on the EOS. The decorations, etc aboard will also interest your child, so you should have a great time.
I'm the family cruise editor here and the official answer is that your 2-1/2 year old won't be able to go in the youth room even with you. The private babysitters are generally told by the line to stay in your cabin with the child (probably for liability reasons). When we were aboard Adventure in June, we had a lovely woman baby sit our son and she got him to sleep very easily.
Take a minute and read what I wrote about the Adventure -- the article is posted here on the family section. Feel free to ask any more Q;s.
