Hi cohengm,
You'll have to check each different cruiseline, prices do vary. Sometimes you'll find a special and remember too that you'll need to figure in tips for those extra cruisers in the same cabin as well. Good luck, are you looking at a specific ship?
Hi:
I'm the family cruise editor here. The prices for children (third and fourth persons in a cabin) vary from line to line. There are some lines which charge the same third/fourth person rate for adults and kids while others have a special children's rate. You may also want to read the new article I just wrote which is posted on the main page of CruiseMates.com -- it's on seasonal youth programs many of which excellent summer deals for kids (in a few instances, kids go free).
Smooth sailing,

WELL I KNOW ON NCL 3RD AND 4TH PAY A CHEAPER RATE BUT CHILDREN UNDER 3 I THINK ONLY PAY PORT CHARGES....FOR OUR DAUGHTER WHO IS GOING WITH US NEXT WEEK, SHE IS 13 MONTHS AND WE ONLY HAD TO PAY PORT CHARGES FOR HER. SO THAT WAS GOOD WAS ONLY ABOUT $250 OR SO. BUT I DONT KOW ABOUT OTHER BOATS.
Hi, We are sailing on the new Carnivle ship Glory this summer and had to pay all most as much as the adults rate ($800.00) I think that is really to much to ask but we paid it.
I plan to do an article this fall on children's rates. Some lines do offer a child's special 3rd/4th berth rate while others, like Carnival, generally offer kids and adults alike the same priced 3rd/4th berth rate.
Smooth sailing,
