Default dining room times

Hi, I am going to be on the Voyager of the Seas in Feb, 2004. Just curious with those with small children, what is the best seating time, first or second seating. My 7 and 5 year old seem to run out of gas by the end of the day, and I felt that the first seating would give them a chance to refuel and we could do some activities afterwards. Just curious what people prefer.

We have always done the early seating, which a 6pm start, by the time all the courses have made there way to the table it is 7pm and that is late enough to finish eating for the little ones. The Adventure Club has evening activites that the kids usually want and sometimes insist they attend and a late seating would be a conflict. You usually see most families with kids at the early seating. The dining staff makes a point to really cater to the kids, which makes for a more pleasant dining experience for everyone at the table and around you.

For me its early seating, more time after dinner for more shipboard activities, shows, casino, etc. We've never had a problem getting back from shore and getting dressed for dinner, in most cases you are leaving ports around 5 anyway and with kids the ages of yours, I think early would suit you all better.

I just got back from cruise last week. My son is 5 and we had late seating ( 8:30pm). He never saw desert because he fell asleep during the meal. The activities aboard the ship will wear your kids out and they will be crashing early if they are young. If you can, go with the early seating and you might even get to see a show....
