I was recently informed by a mom that Camp Carnival would not keep an epi-pen for her son who is allergic to peanuts. They told her that they could take him down to the medical clinic, but the camp was on the top floor and the clinic was on the bottom 11 stories down (too far!!). To make matters worse, the served cookies with M&Ms baked into them!
Does anyone know if this is all true? My daughter has a peanut allergy and need to know how best to handle this.
Rania, the camp counselors will not administer meds of any kind no matter what. Your TA needs to contact Carnival's special needs department and inform them of your daughter's peanut allergy. You should also speak to the head counselor when you drop your daughter off to camp to remind them so that they are aware. They are very good with the kids.
My daughter used to have food allergies. I would bring pre-packed snacks with us on the cruises and give them to the counselors so that she'd have something at snack time. It cut down on the worry for me!
HOpe this helps!
Smooth sailing,
