Default Single Mom with 9 year old on Mercury

Hi! I will be going on my first cruise on Celebrity/Mercury out of San Francisco leaving March 21st. I'm wondering if there will be many other childeren on the Cruise as it's not a holiday week. Any feed back welcome. Any comments on Celebrity or Mercury with regards to kids welcome. I'm also looking for suggestions from parents (single or otherwise) who have travelled with their kids on cruises. I also hope that I will meet some adults (hey it's my vacation too!) Can't wait to leave!

Hello from one single Mom to another!

I'm traveling on the Celebrity Millennium in April with my 6-year-old and my Mom (in other words, 2 kids!), so I don't have anything to pass on about the line. However, I have cruised with my daughter before and I can tell you that cruise lines are a single Mom's best friend! The program on NCL was great and she just loved it. I had to beg her to eat dinner with me and there were many tears shed at the end of the cruise.

Make sure you check out the kids' program on the 1st night (most ships have a preview/registration meeting on the 1st night).

Are you planning on using any of the excursions? I brought my daughter on some beach excursions. I don't think she was up to anything too vigorous (she was only 4 at the time). But, a 9-year-old might appreciate some of the more adventurous ones.

Make sure you pack his/her music and some books for some enforced quiet time in the cabin. And, if you have an inside cabin, make sure you bring a night light.

Most of all, enjoy! You'll get plenty of you-time, so savor every moment!

Thanks so much for your message! It's always great to hear that we're not alone in the world with out situation...

A night light is a great idea! I hadn't considered that but will be shopping for one this evening....

Hope you enjoy your cruise with your mum. I know that if mine was still around she would have loved to have such a great experience.

Happy cruising!

Natasha
