The age requirement thru the cruiselines seems to be 12 -- and my daughter will be 9. How does a family of three (one adult and two kids) get a good experience when there are limitations like this? Does anyone know of a reason for the age requirement?
I booked through Xtreme and their minimum age was 10. I did see another post where someone took their 7 year old. They contacted the tour provider prior to booking to see if they could take someone younger than the listed age. You might want to try that. Xtreme does have live help if you decide to contact them.
we went 8/03 and my son was only 11. I had read that the age limit for the carnival excursion was 12 but a friend had told me they had no problem with the 9 year old. We went and had a great time. very safe and very fun. Enjoy
Depending on the season at Belize, the river can run very deep in spots. The inner tubes are very large black tubes and you could be required to constantly be paddling. As a grandmother, I returned with serious rubber burn under both of my arms from paddling. I can't imagine how a 9 year olds arms would reach over the tube and into the flowing water. Unless you brought along a bungie cord or something to tow her along with you, this could be an obstacle for all of you. She should also be required to wear a life vest which is very warm and heavy. Reggie also said 12 was his age limit.
We took our 10 yr old daughter on our cave tubing in Belize thru Xstream.
They were very good with her and even helped her when she got tired. You may want to email them and ask. Richard and Thomas were so nice and we had a great fresh fruit buffet afterwards! And if you go definitely buy the BBQ lunch they have at the caves. YUM....
