Default travel agent or not?

Its me again. Do most of you go thru a TA or do you book yourselves? Which is the cheaper way to go?

Hi Suzie,
Yes, do get some. There are many independent travel insurance companies that you can choose from. Here are a few links:

Access America

CSA Travel Protection

Travel Guard

You should be able to purchase the one thats right for you.

Suzie

I've done both. I do my research on the internet and figure out where I want to go first. I then check which cruise lines go there and get a cost directly from them. I then check with my local travel agent and for the last cruise, used this site. I got the best deal from a TA in Florida, which is who I went with. It can pay to shop around. The Florida TA beat the local TA and the cruise line by about $200/pp, which with a family of 5 adds up quick. The cruise in April 2004 I booked directly through the cruise line and the one in April 2003 I booked through a local TA. Each time they were the one with the best price.

i use a local travel agent, one who specializes in cruises, have always gotten good deals from them. I let them do all the work, and its nice to have an actual person, someone that you know, handling your arrangements, someone you can call on the phone with any and all questions, someone who will deal with any problems that might pop-up. Many on this site will tell you that a good TA is worth his/her weight in gold. Totally agree!
