We would like to explore St Thomas on our own, go to Trunk Bay etc... Should we rent a car, (family of 5) or rely on taxis?? Which would be least expensive? Which would be more convenient??
Is it worth the rental?? or once we get to Trunk bay would we spend the day there playing in the water rather than exploring the rest of the Island?? Our port time is 8:30-5:30, do we have sufficient time to explore??
Actually, Trunk Bay is on St. John and not St. Thomas where your ship calls. Thus, you don't want to deal w/renting a vehicle in St. Thomas that you'd then have to pay to ferry over to St. John. You can get from St. Thomas via passenger ferry near the port and then take a taxi from the small port area in St. John to Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, and other lovely beaches. Both are beautiful. Trunk Bay gets crowded in the afternoon w/cruise pax, so I'd go in the early a.m.
